On Tuesday, June 3, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to claim the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While it was RCB’s maiden title triumph, ending their 17-year wait, the match also some extraordinary individual performances, including Virat Kohli’s 43 off 35 balls along with Krunal Pandya’s brilliant bowling spell.

After putting 190 on the board, on the back of a disciplined bowling from their bowlers, especially Krunal Pandya, RCB restricted PBKS to 184/7 in 20 overs. During the second innings, Pandya bowled the most economical spell, registering figures of 2/17. With these figures, he turned the tide of the game n favour of RCB, helping them get their hands on the IPL trophy.

Moreover, Pandya was even awarded for his bowling brilliance in the summit clash as he was adjudged the Player of the Match. With this award, he also became the first player in IPL history to win Player of the Match award in two separate finals. Prior to this, the Indian all-rounder scored a vital 47 off 38 balls to lead his then franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI) to one-run win over Rising Pune Supergiant.

Moreover with his performance in the summit clash, Krunal Pandya etched his name in the annals of IPL history, rising to the occasion when it mattered the most.
