In a high-stakes clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) outclassed Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets to secure a vital win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Chasing 185, PBKS found a hero in Josh Inglis, who delivered a composed and commanding innings under pressure. The Australian wicketkeeper batter struck a brilliant 73 off just 42 balls, setting up the chase with maturity while maintaining a brisk scoring rate. His knock was the perfect blend of controlled aggression and smart placement, giving PBKS the upper hand early in the innings.

Inglis walked in after the early dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh, and he quickly stabilized the innings in partnership with Priyansh Arya, who continued his strong season with a quickfire 62. Together, they stitched a 109-run stand that dismantled MI’s bowling plans. Josh Inglis rotated the strike beautifully and found the fence with ease, especially targeting the spinners in the middle overs. By the time he was dismissed in the 18th over, PBKS needed only a handful of runs to seal the game. His innings was central to PBKS’s chase and earned him the Player of the Match award.

PBKS secure top 2 spot with convincing win over MI in IPL 2025

Earlier, MI posted a competitive 184/7 after being sent in to bat. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 57 off 39 balls, playing a typically fluent knock filled with boundaries. Rohit Sharma (24) and Ryan Rickelton (27) gave Mumbai a decent platform, but the innings lost momentum in the middle overs due to tight bowling from the PBKS bowlers. While Hardik Panyda and Naman Dhir chipped in with cameos, MI would have hoped for 200+, but some effective death bowling by PBKS ensured the target remained within reach.

PBKS’s chase was clinical from start to finish, reflecting the team's growing confidence as the playoffs approach. The pitch played true, but MI’s bowlers lacked penetration and failed to contain the scoring, particularly during the Inglis-Arya partnership. Jasprit Bumrah was economical up front but received little support from the rest of the attack. With this win, PBKS climbed into the top two, earning a valuable advantage of playing the Qualifier 1 in the IPL 2025.
