On Friday, May 23, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) comprehensively with 42-run margin to dent the latter’s chances of making to the top two, in match number 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Coming into the match on the back of a win, SRH continued their form despite bowing out of the playoffs race.

For the unversed, RCB’s stand-in skipper, Jitesh Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. Inviting the Pat Cummins-led side to put the score first on the board, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head began the charge from he very first over. While the former was dismissed after scoring 34 off 17 balls, Head also departed after a 10-ball 17. Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13) and Aniket Verma (24 off 9) played quickfire knocks, but it was Ishan Kishan, who shone with the bat.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan had different plans as he walked out to bat after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal. The young batter went upto score unbeaten 94 off 48 deliveries, with his innings being laced with seven fours and five maximums. This proved to be his second best knock after his previous of 106* coming against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the start of the tournament.

With an unbeaten 94, Ishan Kishan now has amassed 325 runs from 12 innings, at an average of 36.11 and a strike rate of 153.30. The young wicketkeeper-batter will hope to replicate his performance when SRH takes on defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 25.
