Punjab skipper Abhishek Sharma played a captain's knock in match number 83 of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Saurashtra at Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad. The opening batter smashed 170 runs off just 96 balls. Along with Abhishek, Prabhsimran Singh also smashed a fiery hundred as Punjab posted a mammoth 424/5 in 50 overs, the fifth highest total in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Coming to bat first after losing the toss, Punjab got a fiery start as Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh put up an opening partnership of 298 runs in just 31 overs. Prabhsimran got  out after scoring 125(95) runs, hitting 11 fours and eight sixes, while Abhishek top scored 170(96) runs, smashing 22 fours and eight fours. After that, Anmol Malhotra (48* off 45) and Sanvir Singh (40* off 29) gave finishing touches as Punjab ended up posted 424 runs on the board. For Saurashtra, Pranav Karia took four scalps while Dharmendrasinh Jadeja put one in his bag. 

Mayank Agarwal plays captain’s knock of 124 as Karnataka post competitive total against Hyderabad

Talking about another game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Karnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal led from the front with his knock of 124(112) runs as Karnataka posted 320/8 in match number 84 of the season against Hyderabad at Railway Cricket Ground in Ahmedabad. Mayank smashed 15 fours and two sixes during his knock. Along with him, Smaran Ravichandran also scored 83(75) runs, hitting three fours and five sixes, while Shreyas Gopal gave finishing touches with 19*(9) as Karnataka went past 300 runs. 

For Hyderabad, Chama Milnd registered figures of 3/66 in his spell of 10 overs. Along with him, Gangam Anikethreddy also took two wickets, while Mohammad Muddassir and Rohit Rayudu scalped a wicket each.
