Will Jacks smashed a fiery maiden hundred in just 41 balls as Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered a famous nine-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 28. Chasing a target of 201 runs, the right-hander smashed 100*(41) as RCB won the match in just 16 overs with nine wickets in hand. Talking about the match, coming to bat first after losing the toss, GT posted a total of 200 runs for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs.
GT were reduced to 45/2 in 6.4 overs. After that, Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan put up a partnership of 86 runs for the third wicket. Sudharsan turned out to be a top scorer with an unbeaten 84*(49) runs, hitting eight fours and four sixes while Shahrukh scored 58 off 30 balls with three fours and five sixes. David Miller also gave finishing touches with 26*(19) runs as GT touched the 200-run mark. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj, Swapnil Singh and Glenn Maxwell scalped a wicket each.
Will Jacks - Virat Kohli's partnership guided RCB to famous win against GT
Chasing the winning target,, RCB got to a great start as skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli added 40 runs for the first wicket in just 3.4 overs. However, Du Plessis got out after a quickfire 24(12) as Sai Kishore gave GT the first breakthrough.
After that, Virat Kohli and Will Jacks took charge of the innings as they put up an unbeaten partnership of 166 runs to chase the target of 201 runs with four overs to spare. Kohli remained unbeaten on 70*(44) runs, hitting six fours and three sixes, while Jacks smashed 100* runs off just 41 balls with five fours and 10 sixes. He smashed a six on the last balls of the 16th over when only one run was required to win.
