On July 9, 2025, former Australia batter Shaun Marsh was born to former Aussie cricketer Geoff Marsh and Michelle Marsh. He is the elder sibling of Mitchell Marsh, who won the T20 World Cup 2021 and World Cup 2023 with Australia. Shaun represented Australia in the U-17 and U-19 levels and in 2000-01 and he delivered a notable performance in a series played in New Zealand. In October 2002, he was a part of Western Australia XI against England in a two-day practice game, played before the start of 2002-03 Ashes. He was the highest scorer in the match as he smashed 92 against England’s quality bowling attack that included names such as Stephen Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, and Andrew Caddick.

After playing for Western Australia in domestic cricket for eight years, Shaun broke into One-Day International (ODI) cricket with his appearance against West Indies in 2008. In his debut series, he scored 158 runs in five matches. He was also a part of Australia that hosted South Africa in the five-match ODI series. In the five-match competition, he notched up 218 runs with a couple of fifties and ended up as the highest run-getter in the series. In November 2009, he racked up his maiden ODI hundred in Hyderabad and guided Australia to a three-run win.
