The Pat Cummins-led Australia cricket team is currently touring West Indies for a multi-format series. During the month long tour, Australia will lock horns with West Indies in three Tests and five T20Is. The team from down under had a memorable start as they went 1-0 up in the series by winning the opening Test by 159 runs at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

As they eye to clinch the Test series with the next Test scheduled to be played from July 3 to 7 in St Georges, veteran Aussie spinner and one of the greats of the game, Nathan Lyon was questioned if his retirement was on cards. Although, the 37-year-old off-spinner was quick to put them down, expressing his desire to win a few away series and also the Test mace.

I want to win away in India and England: Nathan Lyon

Reckoned as Australia’s most successful off-spinner with 556 wickets in 138 Tests, when asked about his retirement, he quickly replied, “I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, but this definitely doesn’t mean I’m retiring anytime soon. There’s no talk about me retiring or even thoughts coming in my head."

The 37-year-old also expressed his desire to win a few away series while adding that he wouldn’t mind getting another World Test Championship title. “I’ve always said I want to win away in India, and I want to win away in England. Obviously, we’ve got that opportunity in a couple of years’ time, but we’ve also got to take it Test by Test and make sure we’re doing everything here and getting the games here in West Indies right. Then we’ve got a massive summer at home with the Ashes. But also, another World Test Championship final will be on my cards," Lyon said.

As Lyon sets his eyes to prolong his career in international cricket, he will next be seen in action when Australia take on West Indies in the second Test, set to be played from Julu 3 to 7 at the National Cricket Stadium in St Georges in Grenada.
