Just a few hours are left for the World Test Championship final between South Africa and Australia at the Lords Cricket Ground from June 11 to 15. As South Africa will be looking to win their first ICC title after 27 years, the Aussies aim to defend their title to win back-to-back WTC titles. This will also be the third consecutive time that the WTC final is being hosted in England.

Ahead of the much–awaited clash, Australian skipper Pat Cummins suggested that the next edition of the WTC final should be hosted in the country which won the previous edition. The fast bowler also added that Lords is also a good venue to host it every year. "Logistically, it seems like that's probably the easiest way to have one venue," Cummins was quoted as saying by India Today.

“It'd be nice, maybe the previous winner hosts that for the next time, or something like that. But as an alternative, I think having it at Lord's every cycle is also a pretty good place," the Australian skipper added.

The ODI World Cup of 2023 is going to be at top for me: Pat Cummins

Australia had a great record in the ICC events in the last two years and they ended up winning the 2021 T20 World Cup, 2023 World Test Championship and the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pat Cummins was captain in the 2023 Test championship and the 2023 World Cup win. Now, he also has a chance to lead Australia to back-to-back WTC titles. However, Cummins stilll rate the 2023 World Cup win in India as his greatest win as captain.

“Having two maces is a really significant thing to show for that period of time – we feel like we have been the best team in the world across all different conditions and to hold the mace at the end of that would be a great sign of something to point to now but also down the track,” Cummins said.

"The ODI World Cup of 2023 is going to be hard to top, that's number one for me,” he further added. "But I do believe the (World Test Championship) mace is just below that in terms of you're up against every other team in the world and you've been successful for a couple of years to make the final, so the mace means a lot," he concluded.
