Liverpool have reportedly shut down the approach from Barcelona to sign Luis Diaz. The Merseyside club told then that Luis Diaz isn't for sale, thus rejecting the Spanish champions' fresh approach for the Colombian. Barcelona, with sporting director Deco taking the lead, reached out to Liverpool earlier this week to convey their interest in signing Díaz. However, Liverpool responded swiftly, making it clear that the player is not for sale and they will not enter into any negotiations. Meanwhile, Saudi's Pro League has also shown its interest in the Colombian international.
Diaz, while speaking about reports, said that there are other clubs showing interest, but did not rule out his exit from Liverpool. "I’m very happy at Liverpool. They’ve treated me well since the first day,” he told reporters. We’re talking with other clubs. It’s the transfer window, it’s normal. If Liverpool renews my contract, or if I have to stay for the 2 years I have left, I’ll be happy. It’s up to them.”
Luis Diaz shows full commitment to Liverpool
Besides, Barcelona and Saudi's Al- Nassr, Diaz has also been approached by Manchester City. However, none of the clubs came up with a formal bid significant enough to prompt Liverpool to consider selling. Internally, there is no urgency to part ways with the 28-year-old forward unless a major offer comes in - one that would enable the club to bring in a replacement of equal or greater quality. Sources believe that he remains fully committed to Liverpool, with no personal efforts made to engineer a move. Unless Díaz’s position changes or an exceptional offer is presented, Liverpool can consider going ahead with the move.
Díaz is still firmly in Arne Slot’s plans for the upcoming season, and unless an offer comes in that allows Liverpool to strengthen their squad - or the player himself requests a transfer - he is expected to stay at Anfield under his current deal. While Díaz has two years remaining on his contract, reports say there is no thought from the club for contract renewal.
