The mark of a true batter is quite simply that he shows a way with the bat and can navigate his team during difficult moments. Perhaps even truer for contests like Test match cricket and this is precisely what India test captain Shubman Gill has done from what one can see in the current Test match being played at Edgbaston. After his superb knock of 147 at Leeds as seen a few days ago, captain Gill has fired another ton, though this time at a venue India are yet to win a contest at. And while here at Edgbaston, Gill has already crossed a great mark of 150 not out, whether or not his team wins in the end is yet to be known.

However, what’s known is that Shubman Gill’s focus and ability to hold the fort for India via firing another century has seen him draw level with Virat Kohli in terms of a fine achievement. On the second day of the Test, Gill went furhter and went on to score a double hundred becoming first Indian captain to acheive the feat in England.

Shubman Gill joins Virat Kohli in elite list

With his great and timely Test hundred for Team India, Shubman Gill, as reported by Deccan Chronicle has now joined an exclusive club that sees him sharing the space with Virat Kohli as the only two Indian Test captains to have struck a century at Edgbaston, the venue for the ongoing cricket contest.

But there's something more. Gill now joins Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin as the test batsman to strike hundreds in three consecutive Tests for Team India against England. Having led from the front, Gill has been exceptional in his handling of pace in seaming conditions.

Back in the day, former legendary batter for team India and also its captain, Kohli had hit a great knock of 149 at this very venue. Even then, Kohli led by an example as only greats do. Shubman Gill has now replicated the effort.  The big question now is this.

Can he go ahead and score a big one in the next innings too?
