Former Australia opener David Warner expressed grief at the loss of lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash. In the afternoon of June 12, an Air India flight, carrying 242 people to London, lost control and collided with BJ Medical College. As per media reports, only one passenger survived while all other 241 people along with several students and staff at the college died. Vijay Rupani, former Gujarat Chief Minister, also perished in the crash as he was onboard to reach London, where his wife and daughter were waiting for him.

Warner took to his Instagram handle and posted a story with a screenshot of a remark purportedly written by an ex-Air India crew member. The Aussie’s story was captioned, “It’s emotionally broken. Thoughts go out to all the families. @airindia. I would never fly @airindia ever again after this and my last interaction with them.” David Warner, who guided Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League 2016, didn’t appear in this year’s cash-rich T20 extravaganza as he went unsold in the 2025 auction held in Jeddah.

The Australian was a part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Karachi Kings (KK) as a skipper. Leading the 2020 champions, he ended up as the sixth-leading run-getter with 368 runs in 11 games. Under his captaincy, Karachi concluded their journey in the playoffs after losing to Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator.

David Warner to feature in MLC 2025

Warner’s next venture is in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. The 38-year-old is a part of Seattle Orcas, which will play under South Africa wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen. Orcas will kick off their campaign against Washington Freedom at Oakland Coliseum on June 14.

Besides star players such as Warner and Klaasen, Seattle also have notable power hitters such as Kyle Mayers and Shimron Hetmyer. Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbaddin Naib and Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza will be expected to bolster the team in all departments of the game.
