With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 culminating after a glittering and action-packed night, the action now shifts towards the India tour of England, which is scheduled to be played from June 20 till August 4. The Men in Blue will be led by Shubman Gill after Rohit Sharm retired from the longest format in May 2025.
Moreover, Team India will also be without Virat Kohli, who also stepped down from the format just after Rohit Sharma’s retirement. With the series just a few days away from start, the England cricket team has been handed a massive setback as they are likely to miss the services of Gus Atkinson.
Gus Atkinson likely to miss first Test against India due to hamstring injury
A report in the English media reported that the pacer is suffering from a hamstring injury and might miss the opening Test of the five-match series. “Gus Atkinson is a doubt for the first Test against India later this month because of a right hamstring strain - adding to England’s injury concerns among their seamers,” a report in BBC read.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury during England’s one-off Test against Zimbabwe last month. The injury forced him to miss the three-match ODI series against West Indies, which the hosts won by 3-0 margin. If he fails to get fit by the Indian series, it could be a major setback seeing Thre Three Lions missing the services of Mark Wood, Olly Stone and Jofra Archer.
