On Tuesday, July 8, The Hundred franchise, London Spirit were handed a massive setback as their Indian all-rounder, Deepti Sharma pulled out of the upcoming edition, which is set to commence from August 5, 2025. The Indian all-rounder, who is currently playing in the Indian colours in the ongoing white-ball series against England Women, cited workload management as the reason behind this move.

It is to be noted that Deepti played a pivotal role in London Spirit’s campaign during their title triumph in 2024. Her withdrawal means that no Indian players under contract will feature in the 100-ball competition this year. It is to be noted that Deepti Sharma played a crucial role, hitting a maximum on the final ball to help her side win their maiden title.

Charli Knott named replacement of Deepti Sharma in London Spirit The Hundred squad

In a statement, the franchise confirmed this development, writing, "Deepti will always have a special place in Spirit history, having produced the team's most iconic moment when she struck the ball over long-on for six to secure our first The Hundred title last summer. She starred with bat and ball throughout the tournament, and was the highest-ranked Spirit player in the MVP standings - we hope to be able to welcome her back to Lord's in future years."

While Sharma will miss The Hundred tournament, she has been replaced by Australia all-rounder Charli Knott. The Aussie international represented Southern Brave in the 100-ball tournament last year. Moreover, with her now joining the Spirit roster, she will become the third Aussie, after Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne.

"I can't wait to take the field with the London Spirit this year. Having experienced the excitement The Hundred has to offer during my short stint last year, I am very much looking forward to playing again this year. It will be a great opportunity to play with and against the best cricketers in the world at the Home of Cricket," she stated.
