The match 61st of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 didn’t start on a good note for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who dropped a catch and missed a stumping in the second over of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) innings, bowled by debutant Harsh Dubey. The 26-year-old gave a second chance to both LSG openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, who ended up scoring fifties while sharing an opening stand of 115 runs.
On the first ball of the second over of the LSG innings, Harsh Dubey induced a bottom edge on Mitchell Marsh’s attempt to cut the ball hard, which hit the left leg of Ishan Kishan, missing his gloves by a fair distance. The first ball of the fourth over saw Harsh Dubey bowl a fuller length outside the leg stump, on which Aiden Markram overbalanced in his attempt to play the flick stroke before Ishan Kishan couldn’t grab hold of the ball to complete the stumping.
Following that, the Lucknow openers took the SRH bowling to the cleaners, going past 100 runs in just nine overs before another chance came the way of Ishan Kishan. It was the fourth ball of the 10th over from Harshal Patel, when he induced an outside edge from Mitchell Marsh’s bat, but the Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper dived to his right to get the glove on it, but it ran away to the boundary for four runs.
While all these chances were quite tough for any wicketkeeper let alone Ishan Kishan, he should have found a way to hold onto at least one of those, to give his team some respite against a surging LSG batting lineup at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Here are some of the fan reactions to SRH’s Ishan Kishan missing chances to dismiss LSG batters with the gloves:
