On Tuesday, June 3, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, this will be a drastic moment in the IPL history as either of the two teams are yet to win their maiden title in the tournament’s 18-year-long history.

For the unversed, PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision was crucial for the Punjab-based franchise as they restricted RCB to 190/9 in the 20 overs, courtesy three-wicket hauls from Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson, whereas Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yuzvendra Chahal also got a wicket each.

Krunal Pandya registers figures of 2/17 in his four-over spell

In the run-chase, PBKS did not have the start that was expected as they lost their first wicket in Priyansh Arya after a 43-run stand. While a combined effort from Josh Hazlewood and Phil Salt helped remove Arya, Krunal Pandya’s change of pace proved costly for PBKS as they lost Prabhsimran Singh in the ninth over. The India all-rounder then removed the dangerman, Josh Inglis, who was looking good.

While he got RCB back into the game with his figures of 2/17 in his four-over spell, fans also took to social media, hailing Krunal’s efforts. While some hailed him as “clutch man”, RCB also took to X and reckoned his efforts, calling him “Lord”.

As of writing, at the end of 13 overs, PBKS had scored 101 at the loss of four wickets with Shashank Singh and Nehal Wadhera in the middle as they looked to take the PBKS innings forward.
