In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the latter’s pacer Akash Singh’s hands got hurt by a nasty straight drive from the former’s skipper Shubman Gill. Chasing a huge target of 236, Gill showed his aggressive side and took LSG’’s bowling unit to the cleaners. In the fifth over of the innings, GT lost Sai Sudharsan at the hands of Will O’Rourke. After the southpaw’s fall, the next three balls went dot and Titans’ captain looked to get the pressure off from his team by attacking Akash, who came to bowl his third over.
On the first delivery of the over, Gill played a straight drive which was stopped by Akash. However, in the attempt, the pacer’s hand got injured severely and his fingers were seen bleeding profusely. LSG’s medical team rushed into the scene and provided medical assistance to the young speedster. The 23-year-old completed his over with a bandage on his hand.

Despite the injured hand, Akash displayed his unwavering spirit and went on to deliver the breakthrough to his team in the form of Jos Buttler, who was looking in excellent touch with his bat. The pacer hoodwinked the England batter with an inswinger which cleaned the veteran up. The English player went back to the dugout after accumulating 33 off 18.
After dismissing the 34-year-old, Akash celebrated the wicket in Digvesh Rathi’s signature style. He alluded towards the pavilion and did the spinner’s notebook celebration. As of writing, GT require 101 off 40 balls, with Sherfane Rutherford (unbeaten 19 off 14) and Shahrukh Khan (unbeaten 22 off 12).
