Former Australia wicketkeeper batter Adam Gilchrist has named his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI, which includes only trophy-winning players. The Aussie’s squad witnessed the domination of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) players as Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah, who were accompanied by the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legends MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine, former Australia vice-captain David Warner and pacer Bhuvenshwar Kumar also earned the spots in the legendary Aussie stumper’s 11-member team.
The 53-year-old revealed his champions edition team while speaking to Cricbuzz. Former Australia player chose five-time IPL-winning skipper MS Dhoni as captain of the side. His team’s top-order included Rohit, Warner, and Raina supported by Suryakumar and Pollard in the upper-middle-order batting. The spin-bowling and all-rounder department is studded with Narine and Jadeja while the pace-bowling unit has the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, and the two-time Purple Cap winner Bhuvenshwar.
Adam Gilchrist’s illustrious record in IPL includes title win with Deccan Chargers
Adam Gilchrist played in the cash-rich league from 2008 to 2013 and guided the defunct Deccan Chargers to the title triumph in the 2009 edition of the marquee T20 tournament played in South Africa. During his illustrious six-year career, he served Chargers and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Talking about his batting numbers, he smashed 2069 runs in 80 games at a strike-rate of 138.39. Serving Chargers for three years from 2008 to 2010, he accumulated 1289 runs with a hundred and eight fifties in 48 matches, at a magnificent strike rate of 147.82. In the maiden installment of the league, he notched up a 42-ball ton against MI in Mumbai and became the player with the fastest hundred for the former Hyderabad-based team.
