In the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram shared an opening stand of 115 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. With this being the must win match for LSG, to keep themselves in the hunt for IPL 2025 playoffs, Marsh and Markram took the SRH bowling to the cleaners in the first half of the innings.
The carnage ensued in the first over itself when Mitchell Marsh struck a couple of crisp boundaries against fellow countryman Pat Cummins. Aiden Markram smashed Harsh Dubey for a couple of sixes, to kickstart his innings. After reaching 69 runs in the first power play stage, Marsh and Markram kept the momentum of the LSG innings going in the middle overs despite the latter getting a couple of lives, including a drop catch from Aniket Verma on the bowling of Zeeshan Ansari.
Following the half century from Mitchell Marsh in just 28 balls, the Australian ultimately got out for 65 runs in 39 balls with six fours and four sixes. But, at this point, Marsh had taken LSG to 115 runs in just 10.3 overs alongside Markram, to set up a perfect platform for his team to go past 200-run total once again.
Here are some of the fan reactions as Marsh and Markram share opening stand in excess of hundred runs:
