The runners-up in 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a forgettable season in IPL 2025. After scoring a mammoth 286/6 in their first match of the season, SRH terribly lost their form for the rest of the season and ended up losing seven of their 14 league matches finishing at sixth spot in the points table. However, in their last game of the season, SRH again showed their batting prowess by smashing 278/3 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Despite not getting qualified for the playoffs, SRH got some match-winning performances from their players in the recently ended IPL edition. However, there were also some players who were picked with high hopes in the mega auction last year but failed to prove their worth in IPL 2025. Apart from that, there were also some players who were picked in the squad but couldn’t find a place in the playing XI throughout the season. In the following listicle, we will have a look at the top three players that SRH might release ahead of the next IPL edition in 2026.
1. Ishan Kishan
Young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was picked at a huge price of INR 11.25 Crore in the mega auction for SRH last year. The left-hander also got a promising start for the Orange Army as he ended up smashing 106*(47) in his first game for SRH. However, apart from that knock, Kishan couldn’t do anything remarkable this year. He scored 354 runs from 14 matches in IPL 2025 with one hundred and a fifty at a strike rate of 152.58. He might not be in SRH’s scheme of things for the next season in 2026.
2. Mohammed Shami
Veteran Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami was picked to add more strength to SRH’s bowling unit along with skipper Pat Cummins after the franchise bought him for INR 10 Crore. However, Shami, who was the highest wicket-taker in the last IPL season (2023), he couldn’t do any miracle with the ball this time for SRH. The right-arm pacer could only scalp six wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 11.23.
3. Wiaan Mulder
South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder was picked by SRH for INR 75 Lakh in the mega auction last year. He got only one match in IPL 2025 where he could score only nine runs and went wicketless bowling just one over. It looks like SRH weren’t able to use Mulder properly and he is unlikely to be a part of the franchise for the next season.
