Delhi Capitals (DC) would be extremely unhappy with their performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Under Axar Patel’s captaincy, Capitals recorded five wins in seven matches in their first half of the tournament. However, things didn’t go ahead as expected as they could win only two matches in their last seven outings and concluded the tournament in the league round with 15 points.

Delhi, along with Punjab Kings (PBKS), are the only team to not win any IPL trophy after featuring in all league seasons since 2008. In the next edition of the cash-rich league, Delhi will strive to douse their thirst for the maiden title and for that, they will look to build a strong team combination. Before entering the IPL 2026 auction, DC will also look to snap ties with some players who put below-par performances in IPL 2025.

Discussing more, SportsTiger has listed below three players who might not feature in DC colours in IPL 2026

3. Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma returned to the DC squad after five years. He was expected to utilise his experience and skills to bolster Delhi’s fast-bowling unit. The speedster played eight matches in the marquee T20 event and ended the campaign with just two wickets at an economy of 10.28.

2. Jake Fraser-McGurk

Australia’s young top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk looked terrible with his bat in IPL 2025. As an opener, his responsibility was to deliver aggressive starts to DC but he failed to do so. Appearing in six games, he could score only 55 runs at an egregious average of 9.16 and strike rate of 105.76.

1. Faf du Plessis

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis also failed to justify his part in DC this year. Delhi were banking on his humongous experience to get explosive starts while batting. However, he put up ordinary numbers as an opening batter. The right-handed batter accumulated only 202 runs in nine games, at a low strike rate of 123.92. Besides his performance, his age factor might also go against him to be retained by Capitals for the next season. The South African will turn 41 next year.
