On Monday, July 14, another Test match concluded in the ongoing five-match series between England and India for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. After England had a winning start to the series, claiming the first Test at Headingley by five-wicket margin, India bounced back in style and registered an emphatic 336-run win at Edgbaston. Coming into the third Test at Lord’s with the series leveled 1-1, England performed under pressure and took home a win by 22 runs.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, England posted 387 on the board, courtesy a 104 from Joe Root and fifty-plus scores from Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse. In reply, India leveled the scores as they were bundled out for 387 in 119.2 overs. KL Rahul top scored with a 100, along with a 74-run knock from Rishabh Pant and 72 from Ravindra Jadeja.

England once again took the guards, scoring 192 runs. As they posted 193-run target for the visitors, the game looked well in balance for all results. But drama, sledging and a lot more pulsating action saw India struggle in the chase as they eventually fell short of 22 runs with Jadeja standing as a lone fighter with his 61*.

However, it was a tough match for the Men in Blue, they currently stand in a fix with the next Test, set to be played from July 23 onwards at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Seeing the Shubman Gill & Co. Go down once again in the series, they currently are placed fourth in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings. Having played three Tests so far in this cycle, they have won one and lost two - occupying the fourth place with 12 points and a point percentage of 33.33.
