After facing a 22-run defeat in the thrilling Lord’s Test, Team India visited St. James Palace to meet King Charles III on July 15. India, who have been in England since June 2025 for the five-match Test series, are trailing by a 1-2 margin against the home side. Under Shubman Gill, Team India played exceptionally in the second Test at Edgbaston after losing the first game in Leeds. In the third match, Shubman Gill and his men failed to chase 193 and registered a narrow defeat. Following the Lord’s Test, action will now move to Greater Manchester, where the Old Trafford Cricket Ground will be hosting the game between both sides from July 23.
A week ahead of the fourth Test, Team India, along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, recorded their presence at the Clarence House Garden, where they were introduced to King Charles III. There was a lively conversation of the team with the monarch. After the meeting with King Charles III, Gill remarked, “It was amazing to meet King Charles III and he was very kind and generous to call us. We had some really good conversations. King Charles III told us that the way our last batsman got out in the previous test match was quite unfortunate, the ball rolling on the stumps. We told him that it was an unfortunate match for us and could have gone either ways. Hopefully, we will have better luck in both the next games."
