Mohammed Kudus is a Ghanaian International footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or right winger. Kudus is known for his rapid pace and prolific finishing. He joined the Premier league club West Ham United from Ajax in 2023. He signed for the Hammers on a five-year contract for a reported fee of £38m with additional add-ons included. He became the second most expensive Ghanaian footballer of all time after Thomas Partey. Kudus made a total of 80 appearances for the hammers in the two seasons and scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists for West Ham. He was a key player in the squad because of the attacking threat that he possessed.

Kudus decided to put an end to his time at West Ham United and decided to start a new chapter in his life. He decided to join the North London club on a six year contract for a reported transfer fee of £55m. There were many clubs interested in signing Kudus, one of them being Tottenham’s North London rivals Chelsea. Chelsea wanted to sign Kudus by offering some of their players in exchange for a lower transfer fee, because of which they were unable to land the deal and Tottenham managed to sign the Ghanaian International on a permanent deal.

Mohammed Kudus wanted to play in a central role for Chelsea: Reports

According to reports, the transfer fee was not the only reason why Chelsea backed out from signing Mohammed Kudus. Another reason was that he wanted to play in a central role in the attacking midfield for the Blues. This position is already reserved by Cole Palmer in Chelsea, because of which Kudus would not have been able to achieve his desired minutes at the club, because of which Chelsea decided to opt out of the race for signing Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus is one among the latest three signings of Tottenham Hotspurs for the upcoming campaign. Morgan Gibbs White from Nottingham Forest and Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale are the other signings made by the Spurs. Tottenham are ready for the new campaign after signing the coach Thomas Frank from Brentford to replace Ange Postecoglou after winning the Europa League. Thomas Frank will be hoping that Kudus will play a major role in leading the team to its desired goal.
