The prestigious Champions League T20, a defunct cricket league, is all set to return under the new name of World Club Championship. As per the recent updates, the league is set to make its comeback in 2026, with it becoming even bigger than the previous league, offering a platform for teams from world’s leaging T20 leagues.
Days after England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) CEO Richard Gould confirmed the plans for the World Club Championship nearing its finalisation, recent reports have confirmed that the inaugural edition will be held in 2026. Moreover, the proposed championship has received humoungous backing from top cricketing boards, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), ECB, among others.

As per the information available till date, the inaugural edition of the Championship is set to be played in 2026. However, the excat dates haven’t been announced, it is highly likely that the tournament will be played at the completion of all major T20 franchise leagues or at a time when it does not clash with big leagues like Indian Premier League.
Which teams will participate in World Club Championship?
According to reports, franchise champions from major leagues such as Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, The Hundred, among others are set to be a part.
