India veteran pacer Mohammed Shami was recently served a Calcutta High Court order in which he is directed to pay INR four lakh per month to his estranged spouse Hasin Jahan and daughter Aaira. Jahan, who is a former model, will receive INR 1.5 lakh every month while for Aaira’s education and other maintenance, the renowned cricketer will have to pay INR 2.5 lakh. Both Shami and Hasin have been living separately since 2018 as the latter accused her husband of domestic violence and adultery. The two were also engaged in a legal confrontation linked to alimony and other issues.
Following the court order, Hasin spoke to news agency ANI and said that Shami forced her to renounce her modelling career and live a housewife’s life. She added that she accepted Shami’s demand but the cricketer didn’t give her maintenance which forced her to to knock the doors of the court.
"I used to model and act before I got married. That was enough for me then. Shami forced me to quit my profession. He wanted me to live a housewife's life. I loved Shami so much that I happily accepted it. But now I have no earnings of my own. Shami has to bear all the responsibility for our maintenance. That is why we had to approach the court when he denied this. Thank God there is a law in our country which orders people to bear their responsibilities,” remarked Hasin Jahan.
Mohammed Shami’s last appearance in competitive cricket
Mohammed Shami played his last match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Donning Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) jersey, he looked completely out of rhythm and failed to justify his price tag of INR 10 crore. Appearing in nine matches of the cash-rich league, he could pick up only six wickets at a horrendous economy of 11.23.
Noting his underwhelming bowling display, SRH didn’t include him in their playing XI after May 2. The 34-year-old also failed to make it to India’s squad against England for the ongoing five-match Test series due to his miserable form and fitness concerns.
