England premier pacer Jofra Archer has expressed his intentions to serve his national team in the upcoming Ashes 2025-26, to be held in Australia from November 21, 2025 to January 8, 2026. Archer made a comeback in Test cricket with his appearance against Team India in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played at the iconic Lord’s. In the crucial contest, he looked in brilliant touch with the ball and picked up five wickets. His performance has been hailed by former England skippers such as Michael Vaughan, Nasser Hussain, and Stuart Broad.

After delivering a sensational performance against India at Lord’s, Archer appeared in a post-match interview with Sky Sports and said, “I wanted to play the Test summer and I wanted to play the Ashes. I think one tick is already there and I will do everything possible in my power to be on the plane in November."

Jofra Archer’s performance against Australia in Tests

Jofra Archer troubled Australia in the 2019 Ashes played in England. With 22 wickets in eight innings of four matches, he ended up as the third-leading wicket-taker in the tournament. That competition concluded in a stalemate with 2-2 figures and Australia retained the urn with this result.

In 2021, Archer couldn’t travel to Australia to serve England in the Ashes due to an elbow injury. This year, England will travel Down Under again and eyes will be set on Archer. On the rapid tracks of Australia, the 30-year-old can do wonders with the ball. In recent years, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Shamar Joseph have troubled the Aussies in their backyard and Archer will also look to do the same. England won their last Ashes series in Australia in 2011 under Andrew Strauss’ leadership.
