Following Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s scintillating maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) ton, his friend Ayan Raj has also hit the headlines for scoring an unbeaten 327 off just 134 in a district cricket game played in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Suryavanshi and Raj are friends and have played cricket together since childhood. The former has become a notable name in competitive cricket for his incredible talent. Appearing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025, he scored 252 runs in seven matches at a magnificent strike rate of 206.55. On April 28, 2025, he became the second-fastest centurion with his 35-ball ton for RR against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Weeks after Suryavanshi’s knock, his friend Raj also attracted the attention for his majestic innings for Sanskriti Cricket Academy. His innings was studded with 41 fours and 22 maximums in the 30-over game. He batted at the stellar strike rate of 220.89. Following the innings, Ayan spoke to News18 and said “Every time I talk to Vaibhav bhai, I get a special feeling. We used to play together when we were younger. Today, he has made a big name for himself, and I'm also following in his footsteps.”
Vaibhav Suryavanshi expected to prove himself in domestic cricket
Noting his amazing prowess, cricket supporters are also comparing him with Sachin Tendulkar, who broke into international cricket for India at the age of 16 in 1989. Suryavanshi has showcased his mettle in the cash-rich IPL but he will have to prove his mettle in domestic cricket while serving his state team Bihar.
Talking about the 14-year-old’s numbers in First-Class Cricket, he has scored 100 runs in 10 innings of five matches at an average of 10.00. Discussing his List A records, he has amassed 132 runs in six games at a strike rate of 110.00. He will look to be effective with his bat in the upcoming domestic season.
