The happy albeit rhythmic run up! The sling-shot action!
The pure deliverance of energy along with rich focus and at the end, creating enough havoc for batters to run riot- few things in world cricket at the moment are as exasperating as Jasprit Bumrah running into batters with one intent alone. And that's to remove them from the face of the cricket field.
But in doing so, the legendary Indian fast bowler, who's earned the tag of 'being the best in the business' has hammered some of the very finest batters of their time.
So which international dismissals of Jasprit Bumrah can be considered iconic in the respect that he got a world class batter out on most occasions where his career stands?
Joe Root - Dismissed 10 times in Test match cricket
Yesterday, truth be told, the biggest fish in the market for India to grab was Joe Root, without much doubt. With Virat Kohli now already a former Test cricketer, Joe Root remains the best batter in the current series on either side. That explains why the man with over 13,000 Test match runs was such a big wicket for India, even as the visitors amassed a huge first inning score.
And guess the bowler who got England's premier batter out? Who else but Jasprit Bumrah?
With Joe Root falling to India's best fast bowler in this day and age, the overall count of Test dismissals where the right hander's fallen victim to Bumrah reached the figure of 10.
That's not really a bad number considering Joe Root has 36 Test centuries to his name.
Well done to Bumrah!
Steven Smith - Dismissed three times in Test match cricket and twice in ODI's
The best Australian batter in terms of pure class, commitment and ability to make big runs- Steven Smith is to Australia what Virat Kohli was all this while to his Indian team.
But even the great Smith, who's scored several impressive hundreds in difficult conditions such as those in England, has fallen victim to Jasprit Bumrah on several occasions.
Apparently, as per latest numbers, besides getting the big prized wicket of Smith twice in one day internationals, Bumrah has claimed this brilliant batter thrice in international Test cricket.
And that really is an impressive number. Is it not?
Travis Head - Dismissed 5 times in Test match cricket
Clearly, the batter who has emerged as the great nadir of stiff and mighty competitive opponents such as India, Head has been the major thorn in India's path on two occasions. The first was when a little over a couple of summers ago, he hit that whirlwind Test ton in the World Test Championship final and the other, was in the ODI world cup 2023 final.
But just how does Head stand where it comes to competing against the mighty Jasprit Bumrah?
As a matter of fact, the blazing left hander has fallen victim to Bumrah's brilliance not once or twice, but as many as 5 different times in international test match cricket.
It ought to be noted that the most recent Travis Head dismissal to Bumrah happened last year in 2024, when on the opening day of the Boxing day Test at the famed MCG, Bumrah took Head's wicket for a duck.
As a matter of fact, 2024 was the most successful run for Bumrah versus Head, whom he dismissed thrice that same year in Test cricket.
In 2018, he got Travis Head out just once following which he couldn't get his wicket the following year.
Then, in 2020, Bumrah against got Travis Head out once. So far, 5 Test dismissals have made Bumrah a stern opponent to Australia's big impact batter.
