Team India captain Shubman Gill went through a concussion test after getting hit by a ball while fielding at slips. After claiming the crucial scalps of Joe Root and Ben Stokes in the first hour of the day, the visitors looked high-spirited. However, youngsters Harry Brook and Jamie Smith took the matter into their hands and plundered runs from Indian bowlers. Brook completed his fifty in 73 balls while Jamie also looked unprecedented and notched up his fifth half-century in just 43 balls. India bowlers have looked helpless against both young batters so far and they are voraciously looking to break this dangerous partnership.
In Ravindra Jadeja’s fifth over, India got the chance to dismiss Brook. On one of Jadeja’s deliveries, Brook got hoodwinked and nicked it towards the slip where Gill was deployed. The India skipper attempted the catch but the ball went past his hand, touched his head, and went towards the boundary. However, Nitish Kumar Reddy followed the ball and stopped it from reaching the boundary. After the delivery, India’s support staff went into the middle and Gill went through the concussion test.
