Neeraj’s maiden throw at Bengaluru’s event was unsuccessful, but in the third attempt, he made a sensational comeback with an 86.18m throw. This was the best throw and it made requisite for him to emerge triumphant eventually. Following him, Kenya’s Julius Yego won the silver medal with a throw of 84.51m, while Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage got the bronze medal for his 84.34m throw. Neeraj’s compatriot Sachin Yadav also did well but couldn’t make it to the podium. The Asian Championships silver medallist concluded in the fourth spot with his effort of 82.33m.
