England is currently hosting India in the highly-anticipated five-match Test series, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. However, the Ben Stokes-led side are already leading the series by 1-0 margin after clinching the opening Test in Leeds by five wickets, they have a daunting task to chase 608-run target posted by the Shubman Gill-led Team India in the second Test in Birmingham.

With England needing 536 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series whereas India needing only seven wickets on the final day, an instance from the fourth day has been making rounds on social media. Veteran England batter Joe Root, who scored only 28 runs across the two innings, won several hearts with his kind gesture.

Joe Root gifts jersey and gloves to blind fan on Day 4 of second Test; gesture goes viral

Joe Root, on day four took a moment away from the grueling Test action to make a young fan’s day. The fan, Ravi, who is only 12 years of age, was seen walking to the field where Joe Root walked towards him and gifted him an England signed jersey and a pair of his signed gloves. It is to be noted that Ravi has been blind since birth but his blindness hasn’t stopped him from supporting the national side.

The England veteran read the message he wrote for Ravi out loud, which said, “To Ravi, keep enjoying this sport and thank you for your support. Best wishes from me." Just after hearing from Root, Ravi quickly questioned if England was confident of chasing a 400-plus run target. In response, Root said, “I don’t want to sound arrogant, but we are very confident. I think we can chase anything. We will certainly be giving it a go. We have got a number of players that are very talented, in great form, we have got a lot of confidence so we will take whatever is on.”

However, England does have a daunting total to chase, they will bank on Harry Brook (15*) and Ollie Pope (24*) to help put up a show to chase the mammoth target or take the game to a draw with rain also in the forecast.
