Indian captain Shubman Gill scripted history in the second Test of a five-match series against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. With his mammoth 269-run knock in the first innings, Gill became the first-ever Indian skipper to hit a double hundred in England. Apart from that, Gill also scored 161 runs in the second innings and went on to amass the highest score by an Indian in a single Test matches including both the innings.

As Gill has been getting lots of praises from the cricketing fraternity, England batting coach Marcus Trescothick said that he was fed up watching him bat. Trescothick also heaped praise on the Indian skipper for his brilliant batting performance in the second Test. “Well, I'm fed up with watching him bat. As much as I like watching batters get runs, he's played brilliantly well – superbly well – in both games. But in particular, this game here. Getting sort of 250 and then, you know, another 150 – now that's pretty special. That volume of runs is something not many people manage,” Marcus Trescothick said in his interview with the BBC.

“You've got to admire his dedication, his concentration, his fitness and his skill level to come out and do it. So it’s got to be well played,” English batting coach added.

I honestly feel privileged to be here and witness that innings: Former English captain on Shubman Gill’s innings

Shubman GIll also earned praise from the former England captain for his historic knock against England at Edgbaston. Jonathan Trott, who played from England from 2007 to 2015 said that he feels privileged to witness such innings by the indian skipper.

“I honestly feel privileged to be here and witness that innings. I can't recall him giving the English bowlers even a single chance. The way he shifted gears - hitting sixes at will - without slogging, just pure cricket shots, was something special. Today, he showed how complete a batter he is. It reminded me of the previous Indian number four - almost a carbon copy of that genius. I don't think he could've dreamed of a better start to his first two Tests on this tour. Sure, he'd have liked to win at Headingley, but now he's hopefully set up a fantastic victory here tomorrow," Trott said on JioHotstar.
