After the match, former Indian captain Virat Kohli took no time in sharing a post to heap praise on the Indian team for a historic victory.
Just a few moments after the match, Virat Kohli took to his X account and acknowledged skipper Shubman Gill, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj for India’s massive win at Edgbaston. “Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch. @ShubmanGill @mdsirajofficial #AkashDeep” Kohli wrote in his X post.
Shubman Gill win player of the match for his tremendous batting performance
Indian skipper Shubman Gill was awarded with the player of the match for his heroics with the bat in both the innings of the Test match. The Indian skipper scored a mammoth 269 runs in the first innings and went on to score 161 in the second innings amassing a total of 430 runs in the match and breaking several records.
“All the things we spoke about after the first game, we were spot on. Our bowling and fielding was tremendous to see. We knew if we get 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we'll be in the game. Not everytime we're going to drop that many catches. He bowled with so much heart. The areas and lengths he hit, he was getting the ball to move both ways. On wickets like this, it's difficult to do that. I'd say I'm feeling comfortable with my game. If we win the series with my contributions, I'll feel happier,” Gill said during the post-match presentation after winning the POTM award.
