On a signing spree this summer, Arsenal have already wrapped up the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Martin Zubimendi. It is reported that they are close to bringing in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke. With these signings, Arsenal is said to be strengthening its defense. With the departure of the injury-plagued Takehiro Tomiyasu, many reports claim that the Gunners are further increasing their talks with some players to increase their defensive options.
Another one of Arsenal's targets, Cristhian Mosquera has appeared to confirm his departure from Valencia saying, “it’s time for a new chapter”. In a video uploaded by Spanish radio station Radio Marca Valencia, Mosquera has effectively confirmed his departure from Valencia. “I’m leaving as a man. I’m leaving the club where I’ve spent my whole life. It’s how football works”, said Mosquera.
According to a report by ESPN, the 21-year-old defender had agreed personal terms with Arsenal last month and despite being offered a new contract by Valencia, reports in England and Spain have suggested a deal between the two clubs progressing over the weekend.
Cristhian Mosquera’s reported signing would take Arsenal’s summer spend past £200m
Sky Sports reports state that Arsenal and Valencia have agreed for a deal over Mosquera worth an initial £13million, plus the initial add-ons, with personal terms on a five-year deal also agreed in principle. Mosquera is set to become Arsenal’s fourth signing, following goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi.
In the reported deals of Viktos Gyokeres and Noni Madueke, the Gunners have agreed to a deal around £64m and £52m respectively. Those signings, including one from Mosquera will take the Gunners' summer spend past £200m. The Spain youth international has made 73 La Liga appearances in the last two seasons and Arsenal seems to be interested in defensive cover for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
