As West Indies and Australia are engaged in the first Test in Barbados, the former’s unnamed player has been facing serious allegations of rape and sexual assault, claims reports in West Indies-based media organisations. As per a report from the Caribbean-based SportsMax TV, the cricketer hails from Guyana and is a crucial member of the current West Indies set-up. The report also went on to assert that the cricketer has faced accusations by at least 11 women. However, no charges have been levelled on the player thus far. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has refrained from commenting on the matter.

The report is claimed to have originated from a Guyana-based newspaper Kaieteur Sports. The report further reveals the account of the reporter, "I have heard accounts from no fewer than eleven women, one of them a teenager, who allege that they have been sexually assaulted, raped, or subjected to unwanted sexual advances by him." As per subsequent report, there have also been endeavours to shield the player for his actions.

Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances, asserts CWI President Kishore Shallow

SportsMax TV, which made the report, asked whether they were aware of the matter, whether there was any investigation in place, and whether there were any attempts to save the player. "Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time," CWI President Kishore Shallow was quoted as saying, as per the report.

According to lawyer Nigel Hughes, who was approached by one of the alleged victims a couple of years ago, said the player was a member of the West Indies squad that hammered Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane in January 2024. Hughes also divulged that no charges have been filed by the victims against that renowned player.
