On Sunday, July 13, the Indian badminton community received shock waves after former top-ranked player, Saina Nehwal confirmed her decision to part ways with husband Parupalli Kashyap. Nehwal, who has been renowned face in the Indian sporting circuit, took to social media to announce separation from long-time partner, who is also a badminton player.

It is to be noted that Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap grew up in their ranks at the Pullela Gopichand badminton academy in Hyderabad. Saina Nehwal grew up to become an icon in the Indian badminton circuit after claiming a bronze at the Olympic Games, her partner claimed a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2014, shining at the international stage.

After years of being together, the two decided to get married in December 2018 and have been together since then. But on Sunday, July 13, 2025, the former World No. 1 confirmed her decision to separate with her long-time partner, thus ending their seven-year-long marriage.

Taking to Instagram story, Saina Nehwal wrote, "Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We're choosing peace, growth, and healing-for ourselves and each other.”

“I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time," Nehwal further added, urging fans and followers to respect their privacy in the matter.
