Team India One-Day International (ODI) skipper Rohit Sharma has completed 18 years in international cricket. He played his maiden 50-over game against Ireland in Belfast June 23, 2007. Since then, he has played 499 international matches for India in which he has accumulated 19700 runs in 532 innings. With these numbers, he is the fourth-leading run-getter for India across all formats. In his vast career, Rohit has achieved incredible success as batter and captain. This year, he guided the Men in Blue to the Champions Trophy 2025 win and became the only India captain to win two consecutive International Cricket Council (ICC) titles.

On completing 18 years in international cricket, Rohit has dropped an image on Instagram story with his helmet. He captioned the image, writing, “Forever grateful 23.06.07.” Rohit will now be active in ODIs only as he retired from Tests on May 7. Earlier, after guiding India to the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, he bid adieu to his T20 International (T20I) career.

India to play next ODI series in August

India’s next ODI assignment will be three-match series in Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will take on the Bangla side from August 17 to 23 in the three-match 50-over series. Rohit Sharma supporters might see their star player in the competition. Under his captaincy, India lost their previous ODI series in Bangladesh in 2022 by a 2-1 margin.

This time, Rohit will look to lead from the front to help his side win an ODI series on Bangladesh soil after 11 years. A couple of months after the Bangladesh series, India will travel to Australia for a three-match ODI competition in October. India won their last 50-over series in Australia in 2019 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. Rohit will look to become the third India skipper to win an ODI series Down Under following MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
