Skipper Pat Cummins led from the front as Australia took a lead of 74 runs against South Africa in the first innings of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lords Cricket Ground in London. After getting bowled out for 212 runs, the Australian made a great comeback as they reduced South Africa to 43/4 by the end of day one. After that, Cummins took charge on day two and registered one of the best figures of his Test career taking six scalps by conceding 28 runs as the Proteas were bowled out for 138 runs, trailing by 74 runs in the first innings.
Talking about the match, Kagiso Rabada shone with the figures of 5/51 on day one as South Africa bowled Australia for 212 runs in the first. Steve Smith got out after scoring 66(112) runs, while Beau Webster top scored with 72(92) runs hitting 11 boundaries. After that, Australia also gave a tough fight with the ball as Mitchell Starc cleared Aiden Markram’s stumps in the first over of South Africa’s innings. The Proteas went on to lose four wickets by the end of the day with skipper Temba Bavuma and David Bedingham at the crease.

Coming to bat on day two of the Test match, Temba Bavuma and David Bedingham put up a partnership of 64 runs for the fifth wickets as the Proteas were looking set to get near Australia’s total. However, Bavuma, who was looking in good touch lost his wicket by a tremendous catch by Marnus Labuschagne. The South African skipper got out after scoring 36(84) runs hitting four fours and a six, while Bedingham top scored with 45 runs off 111 balls hitting six boundaries.
After that, South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for just 138 runs on the second session of day two. Australia skipper Pat Cummins shone with the figures of 6/28 in 18.1 overs. Apart from that, Mitchell Starc took two wickets while Josh Hazlewood put one in his bag.
