Former England fast bowler James Anderson is currently in action in the whites. He is playing the County Championship Division Two match for Lancashire at the Queen's Park in Chesterfield. The pacer demolished the stumps of Derbyshire’s Caleb Jewell with his classic in-swinging delivery with the new Dukes ball which he has confused even the cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar as well.
In a post on social media platform X, Lancashire lauds his delivery, which was bowled in the first session on day two after his team posted a competitve total of 367 on the board in their first innings against Derbyshire. The post read, “Pretty comprehensively bowled Admin would say, @jimmy9 on the march early on Day Two at Chesterfield.”

James Anderson dismisses both openers of Derbyshire cheaply in first innings
42-year-old James Anderson has continued his good form in the new county season after retiring from Test cricket last year. In the match against Derbyshire, he scalped two important wickets. First he trapped Mitchell Wagstaff lbw before delivering a deceptive inswinger which made the striker Caleb Jewell think it would go straight in its path away from the stumps, as a result he shouldered his arms to let the ball go. But the ball came in sharply to knock his off stump. The delivery is a testament to the skill that Anderson still possesses even after retirement.
In the Division Two match against Derbyshire, Lancashire batted first and in their first innings they made 367. James Anderson is marking his return to the game of cricket by playing for Lancashire as its skipper. In first-class cricket for Lancashire,he has taken 1134 wickets in the 300 matches that he played thus far before the ongoing contest. He is also representing Lancashire in the Vitality Blast Men’s T20 Series 2025. In that tournament he has taken 10 wickets and the team is at second place in the points table.
