Punjab Kings fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has urged the people from the state to support their franchise instead of rooting for other state teams. Notably, PBKS had a great season in the ongoing IPL 2025 as they have qualified for the playoffs after 11 long years. The Shreyas Iyer-led side finished at the top of the points table and will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first qualifier at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on May 30.
Ahead of the clash, Arshdeep Singh was interacting with the fans on Snapchat. He replied to one of the fans who wrote “Paaji mein Punjabi nahi hu fir bhi tenu hu support karu ji love you paji. Paaji, I am not Punjabi, still I will support you, love you paaji.” Replying to this, Arshdeep said that there are many people who are from Punjab but still don’t support PBKS and support other IPL teams. He later urged those people to shower their support towards their state’s IPL franchise.
“Thank you for supporting us. You’re not Punjabi but you’re still supporting Punjab, whereas there are a lot of people who don’t support Punjab and have different favourite teams. I would like to urge them to support Punjab, their state, their team, and come in big numbers to see us win,” Arshdeep said while replying to the fans.
Shreyas Iyer led this team superbly: PBKS Head Coach Ricky Ponting
PBKS Head Coach Ricky Ponting heaped praise on Shreyas Iyer for his brilliant captaincy in the ongoing IPL 2025. Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the title last year, also did a great job as a captain for PBKS this year and played a crucial role in his team’’s playoffs qualification after 11 years. With this, Iyer also became the first-ever captain to lead three different teams in IPL playoffs.
“It was pretty obvious with the amount of money we spent on him — we wanted him here. He's led this team superbly, from the front. He's earned the trust of the players, and that's a big thing. He has that sparkle for captaincy,” Ponting was quoted as saying by India Today.
