Not for nothing is Pat Cummins considered a critical factor in the Australian line-up where it comes to their Test side and it’s a squad that boasts powerful and redoubtable names of the class of Steve Smith, Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland.

The term that has been used to most recently describe the lanky Australian captain is Superman and perhaps fittingly so.

The noted nickname is down to the fact that here’s a talented, charismatic cricketer who at the back of a single spell in Test match cricket, can change the complexion of the contest and swing the tide back in Australia’s favour.

He did that most famously during Australia’s most recent triumph against the imposing Indian side in the contests that ended in 2025. The big Test series win enabled Australia to capture the Border-Gavaskar trophy for the first time since 2014.

But here was the central highlight. As captains are expected to dominate and lead from the front, Cummins did exactly that in that series capturing no fewer than 25 wickets as the frontline fast bowler.

As a batter he averaged much better and fared way better than someone like Rohit Sharma and even the newly made Indian captain Shubman Gill.

These are just the kinds of performances that will pump up Australia as they await the big key Test against the Proteas: the WTC final in June of 2025.

However, Pat Cummins’s Test leadership record beckons us to note these important stats:

The lanky and agile all-round cricketer has led Australia to 20 Test match victories from 33 contests wherein he’s lost 7 games.

Interestingly, in times where Australia haven’t played all that well, Pat Cummins, a specialist medium pacer who is adept at bowling short pitched deliveries with nagging accuracy and consistency has led his team to 6 draws too.

On the whole, he enjoys a win percentage north of 70 percent. Now if that’s not impressive, then what is?
