Newcastle United have reportedly sent a £55m bid to Nottingham Forest for signing winger Anthony Elanga. The Magpies are hopeful of getting an agreement done for the 23-year-old Swedish international. Sources say that Elanga is open for a move to Newcastle and is very close to agreeing on personal terms. Newcastle United are eager to get the deal done as soon as possible so that there are no new entrances in the race for signing Elanga in the transfer window. Nottingham are happy with Newcastle making the payment in one go rather than in installments and will hopefully finalise the deal after discussing some add-ons in the deal.
Anthony Elanga is understood to be happy with the project of Newcastle and what they have to offer. The Magpies are adamant on bringing the Swedish International before the start of the pre-season so that he will be up and ready for the upcoming campaign after gelling in well with the team. Newcastle were initially thinking of signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo to the team. However, the Cameroonian International expressed his desire to join Manchester United which is why Newcastle made Anthony Elanga their priority signing for the upcoming campaign.
Anthony Elanga expected to bolster right-wing for the Magpies
Anthony Elanga has played a vital role this season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. Elanga’s contribution of six goals and 11 assists for Forest in the Premier League helped them clinch the seventh place in the table last season which helped them to qualify for the UEFA Conference League in the upcoming season. Elanga is one of the players who has played every match in the last season for his club. His fiery pace and determination to step up for his team has proved very beneficial for Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle will be looking forward to seeing him link up with his Swedish teammate Alexander Isak who has been the leading goal-scorer for the Magpies last season so that their combination can take the team to new heights. Elanga is still under the contract of Forest till 2028 and it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can make this deal happen.
