In the recently released World Athletics rankings, star Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra rose to the top of the standings, reclaiming the top spot after his recent heroics in the Paris Diamond League and the Ostrava Golden Spike event. The ‘Golden Boy’ of India, Chopra reclaimed the number one spot in men’s javelin throw rankings, surpassing Anderson Peters of Grenada.
Notably, the rise in the rankings comes after the two-time Olympic medallist from India secured his first Diamond League win of the 2025 season in the Paris edition with a throw of 88.16m. This was also his first win in the prestigious tournament in two years after his last coming in June 2023. Thereafter, he went on to clinch a gold at the 64th Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 with his best effort of 85.29m.

While Chopra surpassed Anderson Peters, increasing his points to 1445 compared to Peters’ tally of 1431. It is to be noted that Neeraj Chopra lost his top spot in September 2024, shortly after the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the Paris Olympics gold medallist, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, dropped down to the fourth spot with 1370 points to his name.
While Neeraj Chopra now sits at the top spot with Anderson Peters at second place, Germany’s Julian Weber is placed third with 1407 points. He is followed by Arshad Nadeem (1370), Jacub Vadlejch (1346), Julius Yego (1314) to complete the top five.
