Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to join Delhi Capitals (DC) camp for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 round-robin stage. The announcement was made by the Bangla cricket board on May 16, but they also added that the speedster won’t be available for DC in case the IPL team qualifies for the playoffs as the NOC permits him to play in the cash-rich league from May 18 to 24. Earlier, DC and IPL asserted Mustafizur’s contract with the IPL 2020 runners-up, but BCB issued a statement that they weren’t approached for NOC.
In the absence of their star Australia speedster Mitchell Starc, Rahman will be expected to deliver effective results to Capitals. Starc, along with his compatriot Jake Fraser-McGurk, won’t return to India for the remainder of the marquee T20 event. Besides these two names, South Africa all-rounder Donovan Ferreira also refused to reunite with Capitals. The Bangladesh stalwart will join DC on May 18, when the Axar Patel-led team will clash against the table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Tristan Stubbs will rejoin DC’s squad for the rest of league matches
South Africa’s young batter Tristan Stubbs will also be part of DC for the remainder of league games. The 24-year-old will leave the tournament before the playoffs as he will have to prepare for his national team’s final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final to be played from June 11 to 15 at the iconic Lord’s in London against Australia.
Veteran Faf du Plessis will reconnect with Delhi and he will serve the team in all remaining games in the tournament. DC are currently in the sixth spot on the points table, accumulating six wins in 11 matches. They will look to win their remaining three games to qualify for the next round.
