Lance Klusener, who has been associated with Durban’s Super Giants (DSG) since the franchise’s emergence in 2022, will be seen handling the responsibility of the team’s head coach again in the upcoming SA20 League 2026 season. In the previous installment of the tournament, DSG couldn’t reach the knockouts and ended up becoming the worst-performing side in the competition. However, despite the underwhelming performance, DSG haven’t lost faith in Klusener and have retained him for the 2026 season. In 2024, under Klusener’s leadership, Durban's best performance came when they ended their campaign as runners-up.

After getting retained by DSG, he expressed his views in which he displayed joy for showing support and belief in him by the DSG management. "It's a privilege to continue this journey with the Durban's Super Giants and the RPSG Group. The support and belief shown in me is deeply appreciated. I look forward to building something even more special this season. We've laid the foundation over the past three years. Now, it's time to build a team that can consistently challenge for the title and make Durban proud," said the Protea in his statement.

Appearing in three SA20 League seasons, DSG have qualified for the knockouts only once. In 2023, Durban concluded their campaign in the fifth spot on the points tally with four wins and five losses in 10 outings. In 2024, they played quality cricket but couldn’t lift the trophy under Quinton de Kock as Sunrisers Eastern Cape held their nerves in the final and won their second title.

In 2025, there was a leadership change as Keshav Maharaj held the reins of the side. However, the season was the worst for them as they could accumulate just two wins in 10 contests.
