Former England pacer James Anderson will be seen in action after a year of his retirement. In July 2024, Anderson bid adieu to international cricket after playing his last Test match of his career against the West Indies at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. After retirement, Anderson was seen in county cricket, donning Lancashire’s jersey. He also marked his comeback in the shortest format of the sport with his appearance in the ongoing 2025 T20 Blast. Anderson’s passion for cricket is unprecedented as he is displaying hunger to be active in the sport when he is about to turn 43. In a recent development, Anderson has been signed up by the Manchester Originals for ‘The Hundred’ league 2026 edition.

Originals picked him up through the wildcard draft. If the legend gets a chance to show up for Originals, it will be his debut appearance in the franchise-based tournament. The fifth installment of ‘The Hundred’ will be held from August 5 to 31. In February 2025, Sanjiv Goenka’s RSPG Group became the owner of Manchester after acquiring the majority stake of 70% in the franchise. After the latest update on Anderson, Sanjiv Goenka took to X and wrote, "A legend in the squad. Welcome to #ManchesterOriginals, @jimmy9, @thehundred."

Rocky Flintoff bags ‘The Hundred’ contract

Rocky Flintoff, the son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, has got a contract from Northern Superchargers owned by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Group. Rocky is just 17 and he has never played any T20 contest ever but he showcased his batting talent recently for England U-19 against India U-19 in the Youth One-Day International (YODI) game played at Worcester.

In the domestic circuit, Rocky has played 12 games. Discussing his first-class cricket numbers, he has scored 137 runs in nine innings of five games while in List A, he has made seven appearances in which he has hoarded 167 runs with a fifty. Rocky is coached by his father Andrew, who was one of the ace all-rounders in international cricket in the 2000s.
