With Shubman Gill leading the side from the bat and Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep stepping up with the ball, the victory tasted much sweeter than expected. Seeing Team India breach the Edgbaston fortress, some of the greats of the game like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, among others took to social media to congratulate the side for the emphatic win.

Former India cricketer and one of the batting greats, Sachin Tendulkar took to X and wrote, “A lime innings from the of the moment! Congratulations, @ShubmanGill, on powering India to a brilliant Test victory! ” “@RishabhPant17, @klrahul, and @imjadeja batted very well, especially in the 2nd innings. India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled. Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root,” he further added while giving a special mention to Siraj’s catch.

Virat Kohli, who retired from Test cricket in May 2025, midwway through the Indian Premier League (IPL), also could not hold back his emotions as he wrote, “Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch. ”

Apart from them, several other cricketers, including VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, among others also took to X to express their emotions on India’s historic win at Edgbaston.
