With summer transfer window currently open, Real Madrid are reportedly in talks to keep their first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian international, who has been a key figure at Los Blancos, recently addressed speculations on his future with the club. It is to be noted that Courtois’ current deal expires at the end of next season.
With Madrid making three summer signings already so far, the Xabi Alonso’s squad is also working on the contracts of the existing players, including that of the Belgian. Although, Vinicius Jr is expected to sign a new deal in the coming weeks, there are also reports of movement in regard to Thibaut.

Speaking in Charlotte, North Carolina ahead of Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup match against Pachuca, Courtois opened up on his future at the club. “I hope I can renew. I’m very happy at Real Madrid, playing here is a dream and every year that passes is another dream. I’m at the club’s complete disposal, they know I want to stay here... and hopefully retire here. But now it’s time to prove myself on the pitch. The rest will be easy to resolve,” he said.
Courtois has been with Madrid since he joined from Chelsea in 2018. While he continues to be club’s first-choice keeper, reports have confirmed that there are no signs of Xabi Alonso dropping him despite being 33 years of age. As per reports via Diario AS, the Belgian is set to get a two-year deal, which would take him through 2028.
Courtois is currently featuring in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with Real Madrid. The Xabi Alonso-managed side, who are placed in Group H alongside Salzburg, Al-Hilal and Pachuca, are placed second in the group standings. They will next play Pachuca on Monday, June 23 (IST) at 12:30 am.
