India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal looked decent with his bat in the opening Test against England played in Leeds but the southpaw made massive blunders as a fielder. His lethargic fielding became notable as critics didn’t relent while taking him to the cleaners for his errors. In the game, Jasiwal dropped four catches which proved costly for the visitors. Before the second Test in Birmingham, India will have to shape up so that they extract effective results. Prior to the upcoming game, India head coach Gautam Gambhir has ensured that these sorts of mistakes aren’t repeated again.

According to a report from RevSportz, Gambhir isn’t content with Jaiswal and he also had an animated conversation with the youngster about his miserable fielding in the first game. Following the 23-year-old's disheartening fielding show, Jaiswal position is set to be relegated in the upcoming contest.

Prior to the important match, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate appeared in a presser and alluded that Jaiswal would be removed from the slip-catching positions. "We always want depth in the catching department. In England, you're always going to have four catchers at some stage in the game. Yashasvi has been a very good catcher for us. There's also an argument for the short leg being a very important position, particularly if we are going to play two spinners. And we want to pick more guys in that position. And maybe just give Yashasvi a break from catching in the gully for a little while. His hands are quite sore. We want to get his confidence back up," said Doeschate.

India will look to win their first Test in Birmingham

After the loss in the first Test, India will be expected to make a solid comeback in Birmingham. The visitors have never won any game at Edgbaston in eight outings but they will look to be valiant under Shubman Gill to do what they couldn’t do in their last eight matches at the venue.

In 2022, when both India and England clashed against each other in Birmingham, the latter chased down a massive target of 378 and registered their most-successful Test chase. Joe Root played an unbeaten 142-run knock from his bat in the second innings and played an instrumental role in England’s triumph.
