On Monday, July 14, the pulsating Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground between England and India culminated with the hosts registering a nervy 22-run win to go 2-1 up in the series. However, the Men in Blue held their nerves with Ravindra Jadeja standing tall in the middle, the hosts performed under pressure and took the Lord’s Test win to their name.

During the course of the five-day Test at the Lord’s, players of the two teams not only produced scintillating action, but also struggled with injuries. While Rishabh Pant refrained from keeping the wickets after getting injured on his index finger on the opening day, England were marred by injury to their lone spinner Shoaib Bashir.

Shoaib Bashir ruled out of remainder of India Test series with fractured finger

The England offie sustained the injury on the third day, forcing him to walk off the field and Joe Root completing his over, he continued to sit out before returning in the final hour of the Test match, where he dismissed Mohammed Siraj. Moments later, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) shared an update on the spinner, confirming him to miss the remainder of the series due to a fracture.

“England men’s spinner Shoaib Bashir has sustained a fracture to his left finger and has been ruled out of the remainder of the Rothesay Test series against India. He is scheduled to undergo surgery later this week. England will name their squad for the fourth Test at Emirates Old Trafford in the next couple of days,” ECB in its statement said.

With the fourth Test of the series set to be played from July 23 to July 27 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, England Cricket confirmed to announce their squad in a few days time. It would exciting to see if England will add a spinner to their ranks or will they go full throttle with the pace attack, including the likes of Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, among others.
